Update - Police have arraigned three suspects before a Magistrate Court in Bauchi state for allegedly removing the two kidneys of 25-year-old Abubakar Buba. Police officer prosecuting the case, Sergeant Amos Ukpe, told the court that the suspects, Mijinyawa Abdulkadir, Abdullahi Yusuf and Mohammed Zangina were charged with conspiracy, attempt to commit culpable homicide, causing grievous hurt and impersonation, contrary to Section 132 of the Penal code.He told the court: “One Buba Ahmadu reported to the Police that his son, Abubakar from Bununu in Tafawa Balewa Local Govt Area, fell sick and went for medical treatment in a private clinic owned by one Mijinyawa Abdulkadir, who is a Nurse by profession. “At the clinic, one Aminchi introduced himself as a doctor of the said hospital and recommended Abubakar for scanning at Almanzoor scanning centre. Police in Bauchi State have arrested a medical doctor, who allegedly removed the kidneys of a patient in his private hospital. Dr. Sani, the proprietor of Aminchi Clinic in Yakubu Wanka, Bauchi, was alleged to have removed the two kidneys of one Abubakar Buba from Bununu, who is currently lying critically ill in hospital on dialysis. It was gathered that he needs about N7 million for kidney transplant to survive. The 23-year-old Abubakar fell ill and was taken to the clinic by his parents. His condition was said to have worsened after the doctor allegedly carried out an operation on him. Father of the patient, Alhaji Buba, said “They asked me for N10,000 which they said was for drugs. After sometime, perhaps they understood that my son would not survive, I raised alarm. They now asked us to go to a hospital in Kano.
